Objective

Our goal is to educate future retail leaders by providing valuable insights from guest speakers. Your role is to facilitate meaningful, informative conversations in a friendly and engaging way.

Interview Structure

  1. Introduction:
    • Ask the guest to introduce themselves: their brand, role, and how long they’ve been in that position.
  2. Set Questions (Don't mention that these are set questions):
    • What single piece of advice were you given that has carried you through your career?
    • What do you believe this generation, Gen Z, can teach the world?
    • Imagine you’re taking us on a night out. Where are we going, what are we doing, and will we need to call in sick the next morning?!
  3. Specific Questions: Tailor these to each guest's background and career.
  4. Audience Q&A:
    • Take three questions from the audience.
  5. Closing:
    • Thank the guest and wrap up the session.

Interview Format

  • Setup:
    • Interviewers and guests will sit opposite each other at high-top tables.
    • Both interviewers and guests will have table microphones and lapel microphones.
    • Multiple cameras will film the audience and participants.
  • Structure:
  1. Opening:
    Begin with three consistent questions for all guests to establish rapport.
  2. Main Segment:
    Tailor additional questions to the guest’s expertise and background. Focus on extracting valuable advice, career lessons, and predictions for the future of retail.
  3. Audience Q&A:
    Take three audience questions. Encourage engagement and insightful responses.
  • Timing:
    Each interview should last approximately 20-25 minutes.

Interview Tips

  • Prepare:
    Research the guest's background, career, and expertise before the interview.
  • Be Conversational:
    Approach the interview like a friendly conversation. Make the guest feel comfortable while guiding the conversation toward valuable insights.
  • Stay Curious:
    Think of yourself as a future retail leader watching the interview. What would you want to learn? Frame your questions accordingly to benefit the audience and viewers.
  • Listen Actively:
    React to the guest’s responses with thoughtful follow-up questions to keep the dialogue dynamic and engaging.
  • Stay Positive:
    This is not about controversy or tough questions. Maintain a light, respectful, and informative tone.

Production Details

  • Producer: Peter Knott (Oursayso) will manage technical aspects, including audio and camera work.
  • Technical Setup: Multiple cameras will be used, and audio will be captured via both table microphones and lapel microphones.
